January 6th was the first day of London Collection Mens Fashion Week and if you love fashion as much as I do, you would completely understand what a wonderful time of the year fashion week is. One of the best streetwear designers on the UK scene, Liam Hodges, debut his collection and I definitely believe that there are some ideas worth pointing out from the runway show. These pointers can help you with styling your everyday look, styling clienteles if you are a stylist, and to, overall, be aware of certain trends that are emerging in the men’s fashion industry. Even if you never spend a dime on designer clothing, these designers have an upper hand in the fashion industry and from their ideas these trends manage to trickle down into mainstream culture and into local, affordable stores like H&M and Forever 21. So, being aware of these trend gives one the upper hand in fashion and it certainly doesn’t hurt to know how to elevate your look for the coming seasons. Therefore, you definitely wouldn’t want to miss out on how you can step up your style game for 2017 with these pointers.
Long Sleeve
The “long sleeve” trend is one thats growing really fast. But it happens that some people aren’t really exited about this trend and after a heated conversation with a friend, he expressed to me how ‘stupid’ they were. If you don’t see the beauty in this trend, you definitely shouldn’t rock it. But I think theres a cool look to this trend and on the good side, it keeps your hand really warm. So take that into consideration before you write it off your wishlist.
High Waist
The High waist trend has been around for ages but its not very popular in menswear today due to making its rounds in womenswear and due to Steve Urkel ( Thanks Steve). And, I know It’s certainly going to be hard to catch on in NYC with everyone sagging. However, in my opinion this is definitely a cool trend that we should try to bring back in streetwear.
Layering
We’ve all found ourselves in the position of not wearing some of our favorite t shirts in the winter, simply because it was too cold. However layering can help you to make use of your favorite clothes and combat the cold weather. If your T-shirt is too thin, you can simply add a tank top and long johns or long sleeves shirt underneath and you should be fine.
Fur Lining and Fur Collar
Fur Lined and Fur collar garments are a must have for the Fall Winter 2017 season. I really appreciate how subtle it looks with just the right hint of luxury. This trend is definitely picking up and every Oceaneer should definitely be on the lookout as theses pieces will be in very high demand.
Color Blocking
Color blocking items should be a must have on every Oceaneer’s wishlist. Not only do they look really cool, but they also give you a lot of flexibility when trying to create a combination of pieces for a look.
