6 Best Streetwear Magazines for Streetwear News

posted in: Fashion news, VBO Lists | 0

I love streetwear news and if you’re reading, I hope you feel the same. I think I first realized my obsession when I messed up in a course I took a previous semester in college. Sitting in the library, my friend turned to me and said “You know why you’re not doing well? You’re always looking at fashion stuff.” After getting over how frank she was, I came to the realization that I was always looking at fashion stuff. Because I was so bored with the classes I was taking and how hard I was studying, these top urban fashion magazines became sort of an escape for me but my focus became more narrow after I did an internship for a womenswear designer, here in New York City. I never really enjoyed it and that’s when I turned my attention to streetwear. Fashion week has been, and forever will be my two favorite times of the year, as I get to show up to venues and watch people strut their stuff. But very soon this alone wasn’t enough. I wanted to learn about what styles and trends were emerging NOW. I wanted to know more about menswear, sneakers, and even release dates, stores to shop, events to attend, etc. And all these Ideas that I was digitally exposed to slowly started to become apart of my style and my lifestyle. If you can relate to the obsession I have or maybe you want to keep up with the latest trends in streetwear, Here are the 6 best streetwear magazines for streetwear news.

Best Streetwear Magazines for Streetwear News

PAUSE Mag

Pause Magazine is #1 on my list. This is an online magazine that covers a variety of topics from categories which include: streetwear news, Streetstyle, Editorials, and celebrity style(aka “PAUSE Spotted”). According to PAUSE, the name came about from them wanting to make their audience pause or stop for men’s fashion. And even though this magazine is UK based, it covers a decent amount of news from New York City. In addition to readership from the USA, the site also claims readership from Paris, Hong Kong, and Spain. Their IG is loaded with inspirational images such as street style, celebrity style, editorials and lookbook images from different brands. Their youtube channel doesn’t distribute content very often but the amount of content that has already been uploaded is worth checking out. These are a few of the qualities that certainly makes PAUSE one of the top streetwear magazines, so with that being said, Let the tabs be opened.

Highsnobiety

Highsnobiety is the second magazine on my list of magazines to keep up with streetwear. This magazine was once a blog which started in Berlin, in 2005 by Daniel Fischer. It is now New York-based and covers a wide range of topics from different categories such as music, style, clothing, shopping life and even design. Their youtube is constantly loaded with interesting content such as interviews, events, and documentaries. One documentary that recently went viral was a documentary which was shot in Seoul called “Seoul’s Counterfeit Culture”. On their Instagram a is a great place to find inspiration for both style and photography. Also, its really worth checking out their other site, What Drops Now and the female version of Highsnobiety, called Highsnobette.

Pacific Sunwear of California Inc

Hypebeast

HypeBeast is a Hong Kong-based Magazine that was started by Kevin Ma, in 2005. With a slogan like “Driving Culture Forward,” there is no denying that this is one of the best streetwear magazines for streetwear news. This is a great magazine to help you keep up with streetwear, Sneakers, Music, and Art. Other categories of topics they cover are Technology, Entertainment, Automotive, Food, Travel, Sports, and Shopping. On their Instagram, you can also find a lot of inspirational content such as event photos, pop culture icons, celebrities, sneakers etc. I would also recommend checking out their youtube for some inspirational content, as it has features of celebs, designers, event coverage, street style, and documentary-like films. This major publication is the parent of a few other sites such as their e-commerce site, HBX, which was started back in 2012; one of the top destinations for copping streetwear. Another site to be aware of is their sistering site HypeBae, which strives to put women in the forefront of the content that it publishes. This magazine covers a variety of topics from categories such as fashion, footwear, health, travel, food, home, entertainment, and beauty. So even if you aren’t a girl and you have no interest in checking this site out, I would still recommend it for if you want to buy any female a present and even if you’d like to know whats trending for women at the moment. And if you’re a female reading this article, I recommend you to check this out too. Another cool site that Hypebeast gave birth to is HypeKids (see what I did there?). This is a fairly new website but it covers a bunch of topics under the categories of fashion, shoes, and toys all for children. Of course, I recommend checking this site out if you have a kid in your life that you want to keep fresh with all the latest styles and trends.

Complex

A lot of people are familiar with Complex and know it as one of the top urban fashion magazines but a lot of people didn’t know that this was a magazine that was started by Marc Milecofsky, the owner of Echo Unlimited. It began as a print publication in 2002 and in 2007 is when it began to dominate as a digital media publication. Today Complex is another magazine and online publication that covers a vast array of topics such as music, style, pop-culture, sports, and life. This is also a platform that distributes contents from multiple parts of the world such as the UK, Australia, and Canada. Overall, Complex is a cool website to visit to keep up with the latest occurrences in pop-culture and in streetwear. Its also the place to come across exclusive interviews, lookbooks and collaborations, store openings, where to buy certain items on your wishlist, release dates, legal drama, street style images and the list goes on and on.

Fucking Young!

You probably have a lot of questions about the name of this site, but I would like to assure you that Fucking Young is not a porn site. It’s an online publication and magazine that covers not only streetwear but the whole spectrum of menswear. This was a magazine founded by Eduard Garcia, now has Adriano Batista as the Editor in Chief. FY! proudly share editorial campaigns, lookbooks from various designers, collections from different fashion shows, backstage photos from certain runway shows, and even exclusive editorials and interviews, every now and then. What I love about this site is how much how they create content that tries to challenge and push the boundaries of menswear. This magazine exudes that taking risks can sometimes create a really captivating result. Even if I wasn’t a fan of a risk they took in their editorials or interviews, I’m always appreciative of the fact that they actually try to go above and beyond for their audience. Although they cover a lot of different shows, campaigns, and lookbooks, it’s always worth going through them to see photos from runway shows that might excite you in one way or another.

FGUK

Like FY! FGUK is a London-based magazine that is one of the top urban fashion magazines that is not only dedicated to streetwear but it is also dedicated to the whole menswear category. I couldn’t find much more info about this sites, but with sites such as this one, I can not stress how much it’s worth it to shuffle through blog posts to find a specific post that really reflects your style or that you believe has value in it. I found out about really interesting streetwear brands from browsing this site. FGUK also has a category for music, art, traveling, and lifestyle, if you are interested in keeping up with these things as well.
